Sestina Music is delighted to present Sing with Sestina: Gloria! - a virtual ‘come and sing’ project exploring Vivaldi’s Gloria. Participants will use high quality learning resources to guide them through this fantastic work one chorus at a time, and have the opportunity to attend live online sectionals with Sestina’s Musical Director, Mark Chambers, and Sestina singers Charlotte Trepess (soprano), Joseph Zubier (alto), Graham Cooper (tenor) and Aaron O’Hare (bass).
Who can take part?
This programme is aimed at anyone who enjoys choral singing and has an interest in learning the work, or learning more about an authentic stylistic approach to the music. Reading music is helpful but not essential, as you will have sample recordings to help you learn the music.
What’s involved?
To assist with the learning process, participants will have access to the following resources:

A series of 7 ‘bitesize’ tutorial videos in which Mark Chambers examines the stylistic approach to the choruses of Gloria

Annotated scores for each chorus

Bespoke backing tracks for each chorus

Sample tracks recorded for each voice type by Sestina singers Charlotte Trepess (soprano), Joseph Zubier (alto), Graham Cooper (tenor) and Aaron O’Hare (bass)
Participants will then have the opportunity to join two live online sectionals for their voice type led by Mark Chambers and one of our singers, where they will further explore the stylistic nuances of the music, and have the chance to sing along with our singers. Please note that mics will be muted for this part of the session!
Sectional times
Sectionals will each cover 4 choruses and will be 60-90 minutes long.
Soprano sectional 1: Monday 22nd February 2021, 1900
Soprano sectional 2: Saturday 27th February 2021, 1300
Alto sectional 1: Tuesday 23rd February 2021, 1900
Alto sectional 2: Sunday 28th February 2021, 1300
Tenor sectional 1: Thursday 25th February 2021, 1900
Tenor sectional 2: Sunday 28th February 2021, 1430
Bass sectional 1: Friday 26th February 2021, 1900
Bass sectional 2: Saturday 27th February, 1430
Support for choirs
